Contraindications & candidate safety

MeRT® is not suitable for everyone. Below are general considerations. Please discuss your full medical history with our clinical team and your healthcare provider before starting any treatment.

This page is educational and does not replace medical advice. Contraindications must be assessed on an individual basis by a qualified clinician.

General considerations

Some people are not candidates for MeRT® — for example, those with certain implanted medical devices (such as some pacemakers or deep brain stimulators), certain metallic implants in the head, a history of seizure disorders, or specific medical conditions. Pregnancy and certain medications may also require additional review.

What we do

Before starting any protocol, our clinical team completes a candidate assessment and reviews your medical history. If there are any concerns, we'll coordinate with your healthcare provider and may decline to proceed.

What you should do

  • Share your full medical history with our team.
  • Disclose any implanted devices or metallic implants.
  • Discuss any current medications with your provider.
  • Ask questions — no question is too small.
